Car rental is based on a contract signed between the user (lessee) and the supplier Travis Rent a Car - SC NORD TOUR SRL (lessor). We recommend carefully reading of all contractual clauses. The user (lessee) is obliged to fulfill all the conditions written in the contract. The supplier (lessor) reserves the right not to accept the rental, if it considers it necessary, without the obligation to provide any explanations.

 

User age and documents required

The minimum age of the user (lessee) must be 21 years. At the time of car rental, he/she should provide the following documents:
- a valid driving license for the rental car category, valid in Romania and issued at least one year before rental date;
- identity card (if it is possibly with a stable address in Romania).

An user with age between 19 and 21 years old, having a valid driving license issued at least one year before the rental date, can rent a car only by paying an additional fee. Young driver (19-21) option is available only for certain car classes/models. The reservation must be confirmed and fully paid with min. 3 days before rental, in order to obtain/issue the required documents. In case the documents cannot be issued in due time, the reservation can be cancelled free of charge.

 

Rates, deposit/franchise, payment methods

The provided prices are in EUR/day and include the car rental, maintenance, STANDARD Cover protection plan and VAT. The fuel is not included in the price. The special rates are available on request (e.g. long term rental, cross-board rentals).

For each car listed by the online booking system, 3 types of SMART offers (BUDGET, STANDARD, PLUS) are available, with different rates depending on the services and benefits included, payment conditions and booking cancellation terms.

Besides the rental price, the user (the lessee) will pay a deposit/franchise between 100 EUR and 2000 EUR, according to rented car model. The amount of deposit/franchise will be returned back to the user (the lessee) when the car is returned in good condition. In case of damage caused to the rented car, due to user’s (lessee) fault or with an unknown author, or in case of theft of the rented car, the lessor will retain, as a damage fee, the deposit/franchise submitted by the lessee.

The value of the deposit/franchise and the responsibility of the user (lessee) can be reduced by paying an additional fee (EXTRA Cover, SUPER Cover, FULL Cover), until the time of car rental pick-up.

In case of damage to the rented car, which cannot be repaired on the spot, if the damage was not caused by the user’s (lessee) fault, the lessor will replace the vehicle (subject to availability) within 24 hours, depending on the location in which the defect was found. If the damage was caused by the user’s (lessee) fault, the lessor will request a new deposit/franchise for the delivery of a new car or the payment of a new responsibility reduction fee. If the lessor will be unable to replace the rented and damaged car, it will return to the user (lessee) the part of the rental cost, recalculated proportionally to the time the car could not be used.

The payment for car rental services will be made in advance, before car pick-up, in EUR or LEI, cash, by bank transfer or by one of the accepted credit card (VISA, MasterCard) directly in the agency or online.

 

Booking, reservation confirmation, guarantee/deposit, booking cancellation

The rental car booking can be done online, following the steps indicated. The booking confirmation can be made instant after the automatic check of the car`s availability in the booking system database or, for selected vehicles, on request, after the reservation has been processed by an agent and can normally take up to 3 hours. The written confirmation of the requested car ensures its availability for the requested period. The supplier will try to offer for rent, as far as possible, the reserved and confirmed car. For objective reasons (e.g. car malfunctions), after confirming the reservation, the supplier reserves the right to change the car with another car having at least the same characteristics (class, endowments) with the one initially chosen.

A reservation should be guaranteed within 24 to 72 hours after confirmation by paying in advance 50 EUR or 100 EUR (depending on the total value of the rent). At the moment of car pick-up, the user should pay the difference of the total rental value. If no prepayment will be made, the reservation might be cancelled. The booking cancellation conditions depend on the offer of each local supplier and on the package of services purchased. We recommend you to carefully read the cancellation conditions before completing the reservation process.

  

Rental period

The minimum rental period is 24 hours. The extension of the rent is possible up to car`s availability only with the acceptance of the local supplier (lessor) and with the payment of the rent and / or the related taxes.

 

Car pick-up / return

The user (the lessee) will pick up the car clean, with full tank and will return it in the same conditions – with full tank. Otherwise, it will pay 2 EUR + VAT per litre of the fuel shortage + a service fee of 20 EUR. Car pick up / returning can be done free of charge in the locations where there are approved local suppliers. If there is no availability or a supplier in a certain location, cars from other locations can be delivered and taxes will be applied according to the offer generated online.  Car pick up / returning outside the supplier`s working hours will be charged according to the offer generated online.

 

Additional driver

Any additional driver has to meet at least the same conditions as the rental contract holder. For a rental, up to 3 additional drivers can be accepted for a fee.

In case of car damage or theft 100% of your deposit will be charged.

In case of car damage (except wheel rims/cover, tires* and car windscreen) or theft, the whole of your deposit will be charged.

*In case of flat tire, the cost of vulcanization services will be reimbursed up to a limit of 25 EUR/event, based on supporting documents.

In case of damage caused to the interior of the car (dashboard, upholstery, ceiling etc.), the user will pay the entire value of the repairs.

Additional services

On request, for a fee, additional services are available, such as chauffeur, GPS navigation system, child seat, snow chains, prepaid fuel etc. Also, there are available transfer services and local tours with a chauffeur-guide.

  

Geographical area

The car rental is made for Romania territory only.  For cross border travel with the rented car, an additional fee is applied (available at "Additional services") and a written authorization from the lessor is required. For safety reasons, the car can be monitored by GPS.

Cross border car rental is available for selected car classes and models. The reservation must be confirmed and fully paid with min. 3 days before the time of the rental, in order to obtain the documents needed to leave the country. In case the documents cannot be issued in due time, the reservation can be canceled free of charge.

  

Penalties and fees

All penalties, road fees, parking etc., the car maintenance/cleaning during the rental period will be paid by the user (the lessee). The loss of car documents will be charged with 100 EUR, and the loss of keys will be charged additionally with 200 EUR - 1000 EUR. The damage of certain sides of the rented vehicle (wheels, seats, etc.) will be charged according to the signed contract. Smoking is prohibited inside the rented cars. In case the user or one of the passengers smokes inside the car, a fee of EUR 100 will be paid for sanitation.
