Tour description
The most spectacular and diverse driving tour that you can do from Iasi, in only two days. After departure, you’ll start with a visit at Voronet Monastery, a place of worship founded at the end of the 15th Century by Stephen the Great, that today represents a major symbol in Bukovina.
After this, continue towards Moldovita village, where another kind of experience will be waiting for you. From here you’ll enjoy a ride with a steam train, named “Mocanita Hutulca”, that today offers nice experiences for visitors.
As the end of day comes, it’s time to proceed further towards the place for overnight that it’s located in Rarau Mountain up to 1500 m elevation. Getting there needs to drive on Transrarau Road, which offers a scenic ride over the mountains and local villages.
Second day will begin with a short hike from the hotel up on Rarau Mountain where a breathtaking view over the Lady’s Stones (Pietrele Doamnei) is the final prize and perhaps the cherry on the cake for the entire trip. Go back to the hotel, pick-up your luggage and drive again on Transrarau, this time going down towards Chiril Village where you’ll leave behind this scenic road for another nice driving experience along Bistrita River Valley.
After a while you’ll arrive at the Bison Reserve in Vanatori Neamt village. This animal used to be very popular among this areas, some way proved by the fact that the legend of how Moldavia has been founded makes reference to this amazing creature. Along the time, this animal was no longer found due humans activity, until 1970s when a repopulation program was started.
As the trip started with a visit to a monastery, it’s nice to end it with a similar place, that’s why the last visit on this tour will be Agapia Monastery, mostly different than Voronet, but unique due its paintings made by Nicolae Grigorescu, considered the greatest Romanian painter.
Another two hours and you’ll arrive back to Iasi after an amazing trip.
